In 2003 Oliver spent seven months in Aix-en-Provence through Artists in Context, a Pepinierees pour European Artists residency, based at the Ecole Superiure d'Art d'Aix. During this time Oliver collaborated with the Association Anonymal , developing context-based work.
Examples of work included here are images and video clip from Citations, a 20 min video with the people of Jas-de-Boufan talking about their most precious objects. This work was presented back to the participants during an event on the estate. Other images show the accompanying installation thought-out the town, where videos of these peoples objects where placed in positions which correspond to their original positions in the suburbs.
Also included are photos from a solo exhibition held at the time. As well as images from projections held in Port st Louis with Anonyaml, and screen shots and clip of a video made on the streets in Marseille with the kids of La Rose. In this video the kids danced around in front of a blue van, then through croma-key they appeared jumping over the buildings of their estate where the work was projected.
The experiences of this residency informed and developed directly much of the later work and is key to the continued development of The Third Person.
Anonymal and The Third Person continue to collaborate and plan to combine in 2005/6 on a large scale program in the UK.
