Govan Gathering Light was commissioned as part of an outdoor light and video festival organised by Roots in the Community Govan. The piece was installed from 16 th Dec to 6 th Jan 05.
The Third Person project animated the local area and examined it through conversations with inhabitants about the places, which are the most important to them. The idea that these places, as diverse as they are, are held in peoples minds has some relevance to thinking about what it is that makes up a community.
The project resulted in a twin screen video installation. The bottom video shows the people who took part in the project above them a graphic animation of their voice patterns their thoughts took. All the work and conversations were carried out onsite at the Govan Shopping centre.
