[shift] festival 2003 was a series of site specific events and exhibitions in Leeds city centre during March/April, organised by artist led organisation EmergeD.
The Third Person worked within 'Process Lab' onsite, researching and developing a conversation video work. The video animation was produced through an engagement process in the public domain. The videoed conversations were processed so that the aesthetics that identified people and surroundings were removed from the video along with their accents in an attempt to allow peoples views to be heard without traditional prejudice. The result is a homogenized relay of the views and opinions expressed throughout the life of the project.
As the images, were removed from the video they were displayed on the windows and walls of the space. Forming a platform for the work in process to be encountered and engaged.
